Gerbil owners, I need your help!!
I recently got myself an adult gerbil from my dad because the gerbil's friend had deceased so of course I went ahead and bought that adult gerbil a baby gerbil as a friend. I was really stupid because I only bought ONE baby gerbil for the adult gerbil. Well we've tried for over a week to make them used to eachother and become friends but they don't get along AT ALL!! They even attacked eachother and I had to sacrifice my finger to get them away from eachother! Now we're going to buy the baby gerbil his own cage but does the baby gerbil need a friend? I know I'll leave the adult on his own since he's clearly happy that way but..
The baby gerbil doesn't seem depressed even though he's alone? He's pretty happy and active, running on his wheel and eating well even though he is alone. Do I need to buy him a friend if he seems to be well?? And additionally wtf would I do if I DID buy a friend for him and they didn't get along either?!
When the gerbils attacked eachother, it was the adult gerbil who had first provocated the baby gerbil but the baby gerbil definetly has some spunk! He's not aggressive per se but just..is it wise to get him a friend if he seems happy alone?
